Sudan Reaffirms Commitment to Development Interests of Least Developed Countries

New York:Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Muawiya Othman Khalid, met with Ronald Moulieris, Acting Undersecretary-General of the Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States, during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Sudan News Agency, Khalid emphasized Sudan's dedication to promoting the development interests of the least developed countries, highlighting his role as Vice-Chair of the group. He discussed Sudan's efforts in economic recovery, digital transformation, and the development of the agricultural sector.

The meeting also explored ways to leverage the outcomes of the Doha Programme of Action, focusing on resilience building, food security mechanisms, and achieving sustainable graduation from the least developed country category.

Khalid concluded by affirming Sudan's active participation in the preparatory activities for the midterm review of the Doha Programme of Action, set for next March, and expressed readiness to enhance the partnership between the Office and the State of Qatar.
