Sudanese Finance Minister and CBOS Deputy Governor Attend AIIB Meeting in Doha

Doha:Finance Minister Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim and Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Dr. Sami Abdel-Hafeez, participated in the 11th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Doha on September 28-29, 2026.According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting included finance and economy ministers, central bank governors, and representatives from financial and development institutions of member countries.Sudan's involvement in this meeting is part of its strategy to enhance its role in international economic and financial sectors, expand cooperation with financial and development institutions, and prioritize recovery and reconstruction on the international agenda. These efforts aim to revive economic activity and prepare for a new growth and investment phase.Sudan's current priorities are centered on transitioning from war impacts to recovery, restoring basic services, infrastructure rehabilitation, and revitalizing sectors such as energy, water, transpor t, digital infrastructure, and agriculture. There is also a focus on supporting the private sector to create an investment-friendly environment.The meeting offers a platform to discuss cooperation with AIIB, present national projects, explore suitable financing for impactful development projects, and leverage international expertise in infrastructure development.
