Khartoum: The Arab Republic of Egypt has issued a strong condemnation following the attacks on infrastructure and essential facilities in the cities of Portsudan and Kassala, which occurred at dawn on Sunday, May 4, 2025. The Egyptian government emphasized the importance of safeguarding the resources of Sudan, a country it refers to as brotherly, and urged an end to the targeting of infrastructure and civilian facilities to maintain Sudan’s unity and stability.
According to Sudan News Agency, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement on Sunday underscoring that attacks on civil infrastructure are detrimental to efforts aimed at restoring stability in Sudan. Such actions, the statement noted, also impede the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people, which is crucial during these times.
Moreover, Egypt has called for an immediate ceasefire to protect the resources of the Sudanese people, highlighting the urgent need for peace to aid in the country’s recovery and development.
