WFP and UNICEF Condemn Attack on Humanitarian Convoy in North Darfur

El-Kuma: The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and UNICEF condemned, in a statement, the attack on the joint humanitarian convoy in El-Kuma Locality, North Darfur, on Monday night. The attack resulted in the deaths of five convoy members, the injury of others, the burning of several trucks, and the damage of vital humanitarian supplies.

According to Sudan News Agency, the convoy, consisting of 15 trucks, was attempting to reach children and families in the famine-affected city of El-Fashir to provide them with life-saving food and nutrition supplies.

WFP and UNICEF explained that this latest incident follows a series of attacks on humanitarian operations over the past two years, including last week’s bombing of the WFP headquarters in El-Fashir, which devastated a workshop, an office building, and a clinic.
