Khartoum: Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander Malik Agar, has reviewed the overall situation in the Blue Nile Region, particularly the humanitarian, security, service, and agricultural sectors. During a meeting in his office in Portsudan on Monday with the Governor of Blue Nile Region, Ahmed Al-Omda Badi, His Excellency pledged to overcome all impediments and challenges facing the summer agricultural season and the voluntary return of the region’s citizens.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting touched on proposed solutions to address the issue of irregular returns of citizens from South Sudan and the importance of coordination and joint action among relevant authorities to ensure the provision of services in the region and the success of safe returns. The meeting also discussed the regional government’s preparations for the intermediate school certificate exams and the removal of all technical and administrative obstacles, as well as preparations for the start of the new school year in the region.
For his part, the Governor of Blue Nile State explained, in a press statement following the meeting, that he briefed TSC Vice-President on the overall situation in the region and the stability achieved across its seven governorates, particularly after the victories achieved by the armed forces and the supporting forces, and the defeat of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and other rebel militias. He noted the government’s determination to secure all of the region’s borders with South Sudan, particularly the western and southern regions.
Badi explained that the meeting discussed the region’s plan for the upcoming summer agricultural season, which aims to cultivate more than 5 million acres. He noted that TSC Vice-President affirmed the government’s commitment to overcoming all obstacles and supporting the agricultural season by providing improved seeds, production inputs, and electricity.
