Dongola: The Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Lt. Gen. Malik Aggar, has underscored the state’s dedication to addressing the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. Speaking at the closing festival of a conference focused on enhancing the participation of persons with disabilities, held on Tuesday in Dongola, Aggar highlighted the importance of recognizing and nurturing the skills and creativity of persons with disabilities across various domains, while also reinforcing training mechanisms.
According to Sudan News Agency, Lt. Gen. Aggar urged the Northern State government, the Council of Persons with Disabilities, and associated institutions to prioritize the needs of persons with disabilities and to ensure their positive integration into society. He lauded the efforts of the Northern State government in social initiatives and called upon security forces to remain vigilant in safeguarding state stability.
In parallel, Abdeen Awad Allah, the Wali of Northern State, rei
terated his administration’s ongoing support for initiatives aimed at assisting persons with disabilities. He expressed gratitude to all partners contributing to the success of the conference and the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Federal Minister of Social Development, Ahmed Adam Bakhit, asserted that the presence of the TSC Vice-President at the event’s conclusion highlights the state’s high-level commitment to disability issues. He emphasized the conference’s recommendations as a foundation for substantial progress towards a promising future for persons with disabilities, acknowledging the contributions of various organizations, including UN agencies and the University of Dongola.
Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Abdel-Karim, representing the United Nations Population Fund, noted that the event served as a valuable platform to address disability issues, advocate for rights, and promote inclusivity and equality. He reaffirmed the Fund’s ongoing support for health and other essential s
ervices for persons with disabilities.
