TSC President’s Initiative to Support War-Affected Families and Refugees Begins in Port Sudan

Port Sudan: The initiative led by the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, aimed at supporting the families of martyrs, refugees, displaced persons (IDPs), and those affected by the war, commenced on Saturday at the Police House in Port Sudan under the slogan “Hand in Hand.”

According to Sudan News Agency, the event saw the presence of key figures such as the Minister of Defense, Lt. Gen. Yassin Ibrahim; the Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid, Salwa Adam Baniya; the representative from the Ministry of Culture and Information, Dr. Nasreddin Mohamed Ahmed; and other high-ranking officials including the Minister of Federal Government, the Minister of Energy and Oil, several ministry undersecretaries, the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Sudan, as well as representatives from commercial banks and the business community.

During his speech, the Minister of Defense acknowledged the efforts of the nation’s citizens who demonstrated determination and steadfastness in defending the homeland. Lt. Gen. Yassin Ibrahim highlighted the state’s commitment to its societal responsibilities and emphasized the humanitarian priority of supporting families of martyrs, displaced persons, and refugees amid the ongoing war.

He elaborated on the collaborative nature of the initiative, involving charitable individuals and organizations to foster solidarity and mutual support among Sudanese people. He assured that the initiative would continue to uphold these humanitarian values.

Salwa Adam Benya, Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Head of the Initiative’s Technical Committee, spoke about the nature of the conflict in Sudan and the significant victories achieved by the people and armed forces. She stressed the initiative’s ongoing support to those affected across all Sudanese states.

The representative from the Ministry of Culture and Information reiterated the Ministry’s backing for the initiative and its role in societal reconstruction. He described the initiative as inclusive and vital, aiming to support all affected sectors of society.

Mr. Mohamed Osman, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, pledged full support for the initiative and the government’s reconstruction efforts. Dr. Abdul Mahmoud Mubarak from the General Federation of Sudanese Employers and the Federation of Employers in the Red Sea State expressed the private sector’s commitment to the initiative, highlighting the support from the business community through various means.

Asim Al-Ballal, representing civil society organizations, expressed strong support for the initiative, emphasizing its timely launch and the need for continued backing.
