TSC President’s Adviser Engages African Security Council Ambassadors on Sudanese Peace Efforts

New york: Adviser to the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) for Political Affairs and Foreign Relations, Dr. Amjad Farid, announced a meeting held at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The meeting involved ambassadors from African countries on the UN Security Council, including representatives from Liberia, Somalia, and the Republic of the Congo, aiming to enhance direct engagement with the Sudanese government.

According to Sudan News Agency, the ambassadors welcomed this engagement and emphasized the importance of maintaining it, expressing their support for the Sudanese peace plan presented to the United Nations. They committed to pressing the Security Council to adopt this plan as a foundation for any political resolution.

Discussions at the meeting also touched on Emirati interventions in Sudan and the broader region, highlighting the risks associated with them. The participants agreed on the necessity of enforcing international law uniformly.

Dr. Farid noted that the ambassadors reiterated their firm stance against recognizing or interacting with any entities parallel to the Sudanese government. They emphasized the importance of Sudan's unity and sovereignty and recognized the dangers of external interference fueling conflicts in Africa, including in the Congo and Somalia.

The ambassadors also assured that they would block any Security Council proposals that the Sudanese government opposes. Dr. Farid mentioned that they are aware of attempts to mischaracterize the Sudanese government as aligned with Islamists, labeling these narratives as deceptive and meant to justify positions supporting conflict and militia narratives. They confirmed their commitment to preventing such claims from gaining international acceptance.
