Khartoum: Minister of Energy, Engineering Al-Mu'tasim Ibrahim Ahmed Ali, has underscored the strategic importance of international cooperation in achieving a qualitative leap in the country's energy sector, enabling Sudan to diversify energy sources, strengthen sustainable development, and facilitate the transfer of technology and expertise, thereby supporting national economic growth.
According to Sudan News Agency, this statement was made during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salim, where both sides discussed ways to advance international cooperation frameworks in Sudan's energy sector.
The Minister of Energy reviewed recent understandings reached with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding fuel supply, as well as cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt in electricity supply and refinery-related areas. He also highlighted ongoing engagement with the State of Libya in fuel supply through the Sahel and Sahara Bank, noting that he has received an official invitation from his Libyan counterpart, the Minister of Energy.
He further outlined cooperation files with Belarus in the fields of electricity, agricultural inputs, and technical expertise exchange, in addition to strengthening partnerships with relevant international energy organizations.
The meeting also explored opportunities to enhance regional cooperation in electricity interconnection projects and renewable energy initiatives, stressing the need to activate regional coordination mechanisms and benefit from international capabilities and expertise.
