Port Sudan: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, expressed appreciation for Egypt’s supportive positions towards Sudan, encompassing both governmental and civilian spheres.
According to Sudan News Agency, the appreciation was conveyed during a meeting held in Portsudan on Tuesday with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ambassador Badr Abdel-Aati. Lt. Gen. Jabir highlighted the advanced level of bilateral relations between Sudan and Egypt and acknowledged Egypt’s warm reception of Sudanese individuals affected by the war’s repercussions in Sudan.
The discussions during the meeting focused on cooperation, joint coordination, and exploring ways to enhance and promote prospects for joint cooperation between the two nations. Lt. Gen. Jabir also emphasized Sudan’s stance on initiatives aimed at resolving the Sudanese crisis, particularly stressing the significance of the Jeddah Agreement as the key reference, despite non-compl
iance by the opposing militia.
Further, His Excellency briefed the Egyptian Foreign Minister on the current situation in Sudan, developments on the ground, and the impact of the crisis on regional and international dynamics. He addressed the concerns regarding certain countries attempting to impose their agendas in Sudan’s internal affairs, with particular mention of Chad’s role in facilitating the influx of foreign mercenaries. Lt. Gen. Jabir appreciated the supportive roles of Egypt and Eritrea in assisting the Sudanese people amidst the ongoing crisis.
