Portsudan: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Lt. Gen. Shams-Eddin Kabashi, praised Japan’s efforts in supporting the people of Sudan and providing humanitarian assistance during their ordeal. During his meeting with Japan’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Mr. Shinsuke Shimizu, Gen. Kabashi emphasized the Sudanese government’s commitment to facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid and supporting relief teams and workers in the humanitarian field.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting addressed the situation in Sudan, ongoing developments, and the current crisis’s impact on regional and international arenas. It also highlighted the importance of coordination and enhancing joint cooperation between Sudan and Japan in all fields, with a focus on developing bilateral relations further.
Japan’s Special Envoy, Mr. Shimizu, stated in a press release after the meeting that the visit aims to launch Japan’s humanitarian aid, which includes machinery, equi
pment, and refrigerated vehicles to transport vaccines to remote areas, particularly cholera vaccines. He mentioned Japan’s commitment to enhancing cooperation and providing assistance to Sudan during this crisis.
Additionally, Mr. Shimizu noted that Japan plans to initiate new projects to improve water supply facilities and hospitals in the Red Sea and Kassala states. The projects will also extend to development fields and programs supporting women, peace, security, and the economy in both public and private sectors.
