Al-gadarif: A member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) has firmly denied any intentions of a truce while rebel militias continue to occupy several cities, causing distress by humiliating, killing, and displacing defenseless civilians. The statement was made during an address at the Women’s Union Heads’ Forum in Al-Gadarif, attended by the Wali (Governor) of Al-Gadarif State, Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Hassan, and the Chairwoman of the Sudanese Women’s General Union, Ahlam Mohamed Ibrahim. The TSC member emphasized Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and strength, rejecting the notion of the country becoming a pawn in others’ games.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Salma highlighted the state’s leadership focus on the role of women, acknowledging their contributions to society and their support of the armed forces in the ongoing battle for dignity. She expressed concern over the opportunistic intentions of various countries looking to exploit Sudan’s resources and praised those who have supported Sudan in its challenges.
Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Hassan, the Governor of Al-Gadarif, commended the significant contributions of women in the state across various sectors, describing them as the cornerstone of society. He reiterated his support for women’s programs and activities and emphasized the need for actionable recommendations to advance women’s issues and their leadership role.
Ahlam Mohamed Ibrahim, the Head of the Sudanese Women’s General Union, stressed the critical role of women in society and the importance of promoting social and economic peace programs. She highlighted the potential of women to lead Sudan out of its crisis and towards stability and sustainable development.
