Khartoum: Khartoum State Friday dispatched the ‘Convoy of Dignity’ to support displaced persons (IDPs) from Darfur and Kordofan who have sought refuge in Al-Dabbah, Northern State. The initiative comes as part of the state’s humanitarian efforts toward survivors of atrocities committed by the terrorist militia.
According to Sudan News Agency, the convoy was seen off by Khartoum Wali Ahmed Osman Hamza, the Secretary-General of the state government Al-Hadi Abdel-Seed Ibrahim, Acting Minister of Social Development Siddig Hassan Freni, Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Khalid Abdulrahim, and representatives of emergency organizations.
Hamza reaffirmed the state’s commitment to sending humanitarian convoys to states hosting citizens fleeing militia violence, noting wide community participation in preparing food and shelter materials.
Freni said the convoy reflects gratitude to the states that supported Khartoum during the war, while Commissioner Khalid Abdulrahim confirmed it includes diverse food and shelter supplies contributed by localities and emergency groups.
A representative of emergency organizations affirmed full readiness to continue humanitarian efforts and prepare additional convoys in coordination with government and community partners.
