Blue Nile Governor and Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Discuss Regional Stability and Agriculture Success

Khartoum: Governor of the Blue Nile Region, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Al-Omda Badi, and Commissioner-General of the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) Salwa Adam Biniya, convened a joint meeting with leaders of United Nations agencies and international and national organizations operating in the area, alongside several members of the regional government and the Secretary-General. According to Sudan News Agency, the HAC Commissioner-General received a detailed briefing from humanitarian partners and regional government officials. The Governor emphasized that the visit aimed to reassure both the local population and humanitarian organizations amid negative media campaigns about the region's stability. Governor Al-Omda reiterated the region's stable conditions and the consistent flow of food supplies from the federal government. He highlighted the regional government's dedication to delivering humanitarian aid and mentioned the measures taken with the Sudanese Armed Forces' support to ensure a successful agricultural seas on, countering claims of a food shortage by detractors. He also expressed gratitude to the HAC Commissioner-General for her focus on regional stability and the Commission's role in supporting development projects, particularly the rehabilitation of the national road connecting Al-Damazin and Singa. Additionally, he congratulated the Sudanese Armed Forces on their victories in Al-Keili axis in Al-Kormuk Locality. Commissioner-General Biniya praised the Transitional Sovereignty Council President's support for providing food baskets to the needy and explained that the meeting aimed to tackle challenges faced by organizations in the region. She lauded their efforts in fostering regional stability and emphasized the need for increased support in service sectors due to displacement from affected areas. Biniya called for more organizations to join and remain in the region to fulfill their duties, countering misleading media narratives. She announced indicators of a successful agricultural season attributed to amp le rainfall, forecasting a post-harvest sorghum surplus capable of ensuring self-sufficiency and benefiting other regions and neighboring countries.
