Rabat: Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Emad-Eddin Mustafa Adawi, has delivered Sudan’s statement at the 20th Session of the Senior Officials’ Meeting of the Arab-China Cooperation Forum, held in Rabat, Morocco.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Forum commenced with significant Chinese participation, featuring the Director-General of the Directorate of Asia and North Africa at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States for International Political Affairs, and senior officials from various Arab foreign ministries.
Ambassador Adawi extended Sudan’s gratitude to Morocco for hosting the session and praised the efforts of the People’s Republic of China and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in preparing for the meeting. He underscored the 66-year-long cooperative relationship between Sudan and China, which reached a strategic partnership in 2015, leading to significant achievements in multiple sectors, including oil, hydropower, and transportation.
Adawi expressed appreciation for China’s initiatives such as the “Global Security Initiative” and the “Belt and Road Initiative,” which he noted have driven economic development and regional cooperation. He emphasized the importance of the forum’s regular meetings to implement joint projects and enhance South-South cooperation.
Ambassador Adawi discussed the challenges facing Sudan, including the actions of the Rapid Support Forces militia, and outlined the government’s commitment to the roadmap announced in February 2025, aiming for political stability and fair elections. He called for international support to halt the backing of the militia and commended China’s support for Sudan’s sovereignty.
The statement also addressed the situation in Gaza, highlighting China’s support for a ceasefire and the Palestinian cause. Ambassador Adawi concluded by expressing Sudan’s eagerness to build on the forum’s outcomes and prepare for the Arab-Chinese summit in 2026, aiming to strengthen partnerships and expand dialogue.
