Sudan’s Diplomatic Mission in Addis Ababa Participates in Africa Day Celebration at AUC Headquarters

Addis Ababa: The Sudanese Diplomatic Mission in Addis Ababa responded to the invitation of the African Union Commission (AUC) yesterday to participate in the Africa Day celebration at the Commission’s headquarters.

According to Sudan News Agency, the Head of the Mission, Ambassador Al-Zein Ibrahim Hussein, his Deputy, Ambassador Al-Hafiz Issa Abdullah, and Counselor Omar Al-Sheikh participated in the celebration on the occasion of the Union’s founding anniversary.

The event was addressed by Angolan President Joo Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, the rotating Chairperson of the African Union; the Chairperson of the Commission, Mahmoud Ali Yusuf, and President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, as well as representatives of the President of Ethiopia and the United Nations.

Members of the mission and the Sudanese community also participated in the heritage exhibition, the African bazaar, and the traditional cuisine. Some students from the Sudanese School in Addis Ababa presented heritage performances inside the African
Union building, winning the admiration of representatives of African countries and various organizations.

The Chairperson of the Commission, accompanied by the Ethiopian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and the ambassadors, also stopped at the Sudanese pavilion and praised the participation. He addressed the exhibitors, emphasizing the African Union’s concern with Sudan.
