Moscow: The 8th session of the Sudanese-Russian Joint Ministerial Committee commenced Monday in Moscow with the start of the technical committee meetings, opened by statements from the heads of both delegations.
According to Sudan News Agency, Head of the Russian technical side, Mr. Rinad Agliullin, highlighted the growing relations between the two countries, stressing that the convening of the committee reflects a shared will to further strengthen ties for the benefit of both peoples. He reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to enhancing and expanding bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
For her part, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Minerals and Head of the Sudanese technical delegation, Dr. Hind Siddig, thanked the Russian government for hosting the committee’s meetings. She expressed hope that experts and specialists from both sides will engage in constructive and transparent discussions to consolidate existing relations and open new horizons for economic and trade cooperation.
The technical sessions will continue for two days with the participation of representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Infrastructure and Transport, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Energy, as well as the Central Bank of Sudan, alongside their Russian counterparts.
The committee is expected to yield significant outcomes in vital sectors such as energy, oil, mining, and infrastructure. The meetings come at a crucial time as Sudan prepares for a phase of reconstruction after the devastation caused by the war.
