Canberra: Members of the Sudanese community in the Australian capital, Canberra, organized a peaceful protest on Monday evening in front of the entrance to the National Botanic Gardens, where celebrations for the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) National Day were taking place.
According to Sudan News Agency, protesters held signs condemning what they described as Abu Dhabi’s support for the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in Sudan, while other placards called for an end to backing genocidal acts in the country. Some banners also displayed images of the head of the Abu Dhabi entity, accompanied by calls to boycott his state.
During the demonstration, members of the Sudanese community voiced their strong discontent with Emirati support for the militia, which they said contributes to crimes of genocide against civilians in El-Fashir. They reiterated their solidarity with innocent victims affected by the ongoing violence.
It is noteworthy that this demonstration marks the third peaceful solidarity protest organized by the Sudanese community in Canberra, within Australia’s Capital Territory.
