Sudan and Arab Nations Condemn Israel’s Appointment of Envoy to ‘Somaliland’

Khartoum: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, along with the foreign ministers of several Arab and Islamic countries, has issued a strong condemnation of Israel's recent announcement to appoint a diplomatic envoy to the self-declared region of 'Somaliland.' This move has been described as a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

According to Sudan News Agency, the joint statement was released by the foreign ministers of the Republic of Sudan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the State of Libya, the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, the State of Palestine, the Republic of Trkiye, and the Republic of Indonesia. They collectively condemned Israel's decision, stressing that it undermines the unity and territorial integrity of Somalia.

The ministers expressed their categorical rejection of any unilateral actions that threaten the sovereignty of states. They reiterated their unwavering support for Somalia's unity and its legitimate state institutions, which they recognize as the only legitimate representatives of the Somali people's will.

Furthermore, the joint statement highlighted that Israel's actions are a direct violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and the Constitutive Act of the African Union. The ministers warned that such a move sets a dangerous precedent that could destabilize the Horn of Africa, potentially affecting regional peace and security.
