Finance Minister and Swiss Envoy Discuss Sudan’s Economic and Humanitarian Challenges

Khartoum: Minister of Finance Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim engaged in discussions with a Swiss delegation led by Ambassador Anders Baum and Swiss Envoy to the Horn of Africa, Ambassador Silvan Stier, during their visit to Khartoum. The meeting focused on Sudan's current economic and humanitarian issues.

According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Ibrahim provided the Swiss delegation with an overview of the country's economic conditions and humanitarian needs. He detailed the ministry's ongoing efforts towards achieving economic stability, emphasizing the importance of restoring security, facilitating the return of Sudanese refugees and internally displaced persons, and prioritizing infrastructure rehabilitation and post-war reconstruction.

Dr. Ibrahim urged Switzerland, along with the broader international community and various development and financing institutions, to support Sudan in its reconstruction endeavors and contribute to fostering economic development. The discussions also covered efforts to maintain peace, safeguard civilians, open humanitarian corridors, advance the Sudanese national dialogue process, and explore opportunities for enhancing bilateral economic cooperation.

Ambassador Anders Baum expressed Switzerland's willingness to provide technical support to further peace and stability in Sudan.
