Gezira: The Gezira Scheme Governor Ibrahim Mustafa confirmed that the project has returned to production stronger than before the war, noting that cultivated land in the latest season reached 1.75 million acres, exceeding pre-war levels.
According to Sudan News Agency, the scheme is pursuing plans to enhance governance and introduce an information technology department, alongside satellite-based agricultural monitoring systems.
He added that despite widespread destruction caused by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, the scheme has significantly recovered, with rehabilitation of irrigation infrastructure and renewed agricultural activity. He also noted foreign interest in investment partnerships, pending sovereign guarantees.
