Port Sudan: Transitional Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris has emphasized the importance of upgrading Port Sudan to enhance its competitiveness within the Red Sea Basin. He urged the leadership and staff of the Sea Ports Corporation to maximize their efforts, while assuring that the government will support this initiative by providing the necessary resources.
According to Sudan News Agency, Prime Minister Idris, alongside the Wali of the Red Sea State, Lt. Gen. Mustafa Mohamed Nour, conducted an inspection of the southern port and Dama Dama port on Monday. During the visit, they evaluated the progress and identified the needs of the ports.
Engineer Rashid Abdel-Rahman Ahmed, Acting Director of the Sea Ports Corporation, noted in press statements that the Prime Minister highlighted the need for increased efforts to develop the port. Ahmed stated, “We will implement this directive and work diligently to achieve it.”
Ahmed further mentioned that they briefed the Prime Minister on the Corporation’s requirement for spare parts to ensure zero waiting time for incoming ships. The Prime Minister reinforced the government’s commitment to supplying all necessary materials, which he believes will enable the Seaports Corporation to increase its revenue in the near future.
The Acting Director emphasized that the visit signifies the Prime Minister’s dedication to critical economic sectors and provides a considerable boost to the Corporation, a key pillar of the national economy.
