Port-Sudan: The city of Portsudan, the capital of the Red Sea State, witnessed on Tuesday morning the launch of the activities of the first economic conference to confront the challenges of war in Sudan under the auspices of President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and the supervision of the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning under the slogan “Together to Achieve Sustainable Economic Recovery”.
According to Sudan News Agency, the conference sees participation from the ministries of the economic sector, the Central Bank of Sudan, all relevant government institutions, the private sector, and a group of specialized experts. The event is organized by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and is deemed a necessary response to the economic challenges posed by the ongoing war, necessitating urgent and medium-term solutions.
The conference aims to analyze and diagnose the current economic situation in Sudan through scientific working papers and reliable data. Its goals include evaluati
ng the overall policies of the Sudanese economy and developing a clear vision for practical solutions to address economic deterioration and improve economic performance. This will be approached through two programs: an urgent emergency program and a medium-term one.
Working papers presented at the conference examine the potential role of external economic relations in alleviating the negative effects of the war. They also focus on activating partnerships between the public and private sectors to enhance economic diversity and lay the foundations for a sustainable economy. Additionally, the conference emphasizes the need to activate governance and institutional systems in managing the state’s economy.
