North kordofan: The Government Council of North Kordofan State convened its regular meeting at the Government Secretariat, led by the State’s Wali Abdel-Khalig Abdel-Latif, to assess the 2025 agricultural season.
According to Sudan News Agency, the official spokesperson for the state government, Abdel-Mutalib Abdel-Mutaal, who is also the Secretary-General and Acting Minister of the Higher Council for Culture, Media, Youth, and Sports, reported that Engineer Ibrahim Hamid, the Acting Minister of Production and Economic Resources, delivered a comprehensive report on the season’s agricultural targets. He emphasized that the 2025 season is showing promising productivity in various crops, underpinned by consistent rainfall.
Additionally, veterinary and nutritional services have been extended to livestock through organized animal treatment days, along with efforts to prepare pastures. However, the season has faced challenges, particularly security concerns in certain localities.
The Council also received an update from Dr. Iman Malik, the Acting Minister of Health and Social Development, regarding the commencement of the Integrated Nutrition Campaign. This initiative, running from 24 November to 28 November, spans six localities and aims to reach 200,000 children, pregnant women, and women of childbearing age, with the goal of enhancing health and nutritional outcomes.
