Khartoum: The Central Bank of Sudan (CBoS) announced a new policy on Monday, mandating the use of the National Number for opening bank accounts. This move aims to streamline and simplify the account opening process for citizens across the country. Banks are now required to verify the customer’s National Number through the General Administration of Civil Registry system to ensure its authenticity.
According to Sudan News Agency, the adoption of the National Number as a requirement for opening bank accounts is part of a broader initiative to enhance the efficiency of banking operations and improve customer convenience. This policy aims to provide a more straightforward and secure method for individuals to access banking services, thereby promoting financial inclusion within Sudan. The CBoS emphasized the importance of banks adhering to this new regulation and performing diligent checks to maintain the integrity of the financial system.
