Ministry of Finance Completes Financial Commitments Until May 2025

Khartoum: The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning has successfully met its approved budget obligations for the period from January to May of the 2025 fiscal year, achieving key objectives such as resource mobilization and prioritizing spending.

According to Sudan News Agency, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Abdullah Ibrahim, announced in a press statement on Wednesday that all payments related to the war effort and the War of Dignity have been prioritized and completed. This includes the payment of salaries for federal unit employees, all pension entitlements, the Eid al-Fitr grant, and the government’s obligations to the National Health Insurance Fund. Additionally, the ministry has fulfilled the health sector’s commitments, supporting treatment in government hospitals and ensuring the provision of medicines and medical equipment.

Furthermore, the ministry has completed the acquisition of 66 ambulances for the Ministry of Health’s National Ambulance Project, funded by a grant from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development. Preparations for health sector emergencies have been made, including rapid responses to potential epidemics such as cholera.

The Undersecretary emphasized the completion of the states’ revenue shares, collected at the central level through the Ministry of Federal Government, adhering to the agreed-upon percentage of 30%. The agricultural sector has had its requirements for production inputs, operational capacity, and direct financing to producers met through the relevant authorities.

Financial obligations for receiving and transporting external humanitarian aid, ensuring its delivery to war-affected citizens, have also been fulfilled. The ministry remains committed to creating a secure and healthy environment for citizens returning to Khartoum State by meeting obligations to police, security, and civil defense, as well as covering costs related to mine clearance, hygiene, and sterilization supplies.
