Port sudan: Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Saif Al-Nasr Al-Tijani Haroun, received on Monday at his office in Port Sudan the Russian Ambassador to Sudan, Andrei Georgievich, during an official visit in which both sides discussed opportunities to enhance joint cooperation in the fields of transport, ports, and logistics.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting was attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry Dr. Issam Al-Din Hussabo, Director of Sudan Railways Corporation (SRC), Eng. Mousa Al-Goum Al-Jehadi, and Director of the Sea Ports Corporation (SPC) Eng. Gailani Mohamed Gailani. The minister affirmed Sudan’s full openness to serious foreign investments, noting the ministry’s aspiration for strategic partnerships with the Russian side, particularly in modern port projects, industrial and tourist cities, and transit services, enhancing Sudan’s position as a regional transport hub connecting north, south, east, and west.
He added that the ministry is moving forward with projects under the BOT system offering quick returns in the maritime and aviation transport sectors, given the urgent need to rehabilitate infrastructure and support the national transition toward development.
For his part, the Russian ambassador expressed his country’s readiness to expand economic cooperation, affirming that major Russian companies are ready to invest in ports, railways, and aviation, praising Sudan’s geographical location and the quality investment opportunities it offers. He also indicated the embassy’s commitment to facilitating communication between Russian investors and their Sudanese counterparts, and to strengthening economic relations between the two countries, looking forward to a long-term strategic partnership.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport commended Russia’s supportive stance toward Sudan, affirming the ministry’s desire to continue coordination and activate bilateral agreements in ways that serve the interests of both countries.
