Geneva: Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, met separately with his counterparts, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Professor Khalid Abdel-Ghaffar, and Minister of Health of the Syrian Arab Republic, Dr. Musab Al-Ali. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva, in the presence of Sudan’s Permanent Representative to United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Hassan Hamid.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meetings focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Sudan, Egypt, and Syria. Dr. Ibrahim discussed the current health situation in Sudan, highlighting the progress in health service provision and the return of citizens to various areas of the country following stabilization.
Dr. Ibrahim extended his congratulations to the new Syrian Minister of Health and expressed his eagerness for enhanced cooperation in the future. He also acknowledged Egypt’s supportive role in assisting Sudan, particularly through pharmaceutical facilities and easing treatment procedures for Sudanese patients. He expressed a desire to expand collaboration in doctor training and pharmaceutical initiatives under existing joint agreements.
In the discussions, Dr. Ibrahim also addressed the damage inflicted on health facilities due to the war and emphasized Sudan’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ health and delivering humanitarian services with the help of partners. He underscored the importance of reconstruction and restoration of health services and called for collaboration in the rehabilitation efforts of Sudan’s health sector.
