Baku: Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation Engineer Ahmed Dirdiri Gandour addressed a gathering organized by the Embassy of Sudan in Azerbaijan for members of the Sudanese community and students on Saturday at the embassy premises. The Minister conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister Prof. Kamil Al-Tayib Idris, affirming the importance of investing in youth and students, describing them as the leaders of Sudan’s digital transformation.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister emphasized that technology is not merely a tool but a pillar for advancing public services, good governance, and sustainable development. He explained that the Ministry of Communications and Digital Transformation is working to strengthen the national digital infrastructure through modern policies and practical initiatives encompassing artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, with the aim of building a more efficient and inclusive digital future.
The Minister expressed, ‘Our confidence in the youth of Sudan is boundless,’ and reiterated that through joint efforts, a genuine transformation reflecting the aspirations of the nation, harnessing their energy and innovation, will be achieved.
For his part, Sudan’s Ambassador to Baku Anas Al-Tayib Al-Gailani stated that the events in Sudan were orchestrated as a pre-planned scenario by external actors, despite the shifting narratives promoted by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. He highlighted that the RSF militia sometimes claims the conflict was triggered by the Framework Agreement, and at other times uses the pretext of confronting the so-called ‘State of 56’.
The Ambassador further noted that the international and regional community, as well as human rights bodies and legal mechanisms, have become fully convinced of the systematic violence perpetrated by the terrorist militia, including acts of genocide and crimes against humanity. These institutions are now calling for accountability, urging that the RSF militia be held legally and morally responsible, and demanding its designation as a terrorist group to ensure perpetrators do not evade justice.
He also highlighted that residents of Darfur and El-Fashir have fled to Al-Dabbah in northern Sudan to escape the militia’s brutality, while the voluntary return of civilians to areas under the control of the Sudanese Armed Forces sends a clear message of the public’s rejection of the militia and their lack of trust in it, affirming that it has become widely shunned by the Sudanese people.
In conclusion, the Ambassador praised the success of the diplomatic campaign carried out by Sudan’s embassies and missions abroad, as well as by Sudanese communities around the world.
