Khartoum: Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries, Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri, stated that Sudan possesses abundant and favorable opportunities and is rich in resources that must be optimally utilized to elevate the country from a developing nation to one among the world's leading states.
According to Sudan News Agency, speaking on Sunday at a workshop on project management held at the Ministry's headquarters, the Minister affirmed that projects within the animal resources sector constitute a cornerstone of the national economy, underscoring the need to intensify efforts to enhance production and productivity, advance value chains, and expand export opportunities.
The Minister outlined a range of skills essential for the success of projects, including initiation and preparation, innovation, risk forecasting, planning, monitoring and follow-up, and setting measurable success indicators. He further noted that project owners could achieve a 1% gain if projects are completed ahead of schedule and within a lower-than-allocated budget.
Professor Al-Mansouri attributed the failure of some projects to unrealistic budgeting and the lack of a scientific approach to project adoption.
He stressed the importance of continuous monitoring and evaluation to ensure that outcomes align with set objectives, alongside the need for ongoing development to keep pace with regional and international challenges and changes.
The workshop featured extensive discussions and substantive contributions from participants, who presented a number of insights and proposals aimed at supporting project implementation and achieving sustainable development in the animal resources sector.
