Al-Fasher: The Governor of Darfur Region, Minni Arko Minawi, has asserted that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia is continuing its terrorist actions, as evidenced by its recent attack on a World Food Program (WFP) humanitarian convoy in the Al-Koma area. The assault occurred after the convoy crew refused to alter their intended route or unload the aid supplies.
According to Sudan News Agency, the convoy was en route to El-Fasher when the attack took place, resulting in the deaths of several aid workers. The surviving trucks were subsequently looted and unloaded by the militia. In a social media post, Minawi accused the RSF of exploiting military strikes on their positions to mislead the international community into believing the army was responsible for the convoy’s bombing.
Minawi condemned the attack, stating that it is indicative of the militia’s genocidal intentions. He emphasized that the humanitarian convoy had traveled thousands of kilometers to deliver crucial aid to the besieged residents of El-Fashir, who have been under siege for over a year.
Furthermore, Minawi pointed out that the RSF had previously targeted WFP warehouses in El-Fashir, undermining efforts to provide storage for aid supplies. He also expressed concern over some WFP employees allegedly collaborating with nations supporting the militia, thereby obstructing relief efforts. These employees, previously expelled from Sudan, are reportedly operating from Nairobi and within Sudan on matters related to the conflict.
