Al-gadarif: The Director of the Mechanized Farming Corporation in Al-Gadarif State, Engineer Abulgasim Abdullah, revealed that 754,000 acres of land along the border strip have entered the implementation phase. This development follows the Armed Forces’ successful efforts to reclaim the area from Ethiopian occupation. The land is set to be re-planned and subsequently distributed to eligible farmers in the near future.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Director emphasized the importance of maintaining the Buttana pastoral area, particularly after the expansion of mechanized farming activities north of the pastoral line. He acknowledged that extensive areas are now being cultivated due to shifts in climatic conditions.
In his press statements, Engineer Abulgasim Abdullah highlighted that the registered agricultural areas designated for mechanized farming currently total 7.6 million acres. With the addition of the reclaimed areas from the Ethiopian side, the overall agricultural area is set to increase to 8.4 million acres.
The Director reiterated the Corporation’s dedication to enhancing the agricultural sector by offering extension services, conducting soil testing, and building agricultural roads. Additionally, there is a focus on training mechanized farming personnel in digital transformation. He announced the renewal of 3.4 million acres and urged farmers to renew their agricultural projects to ensure the benefits are returned to both the farming sector and the wider community of the state.
