Doha: In its editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper stated that the formation of the Lebanese government marks a new chapter for Lebanon, fostering trust and societal responsibility among different Lebanese factions. Many Arab and Western countries, as well as regional and international organizations, have expressed optimism about the new government led by Nawaf Salam, hoping it will steer Lebanon towards peace and stability.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has welcomed the formation of the new Lebanese government, expressing hope that it will aid in supporting Lebanon’s stability and development. The GCC reiterated its support for Lebanon and its people, emphasizing their readiness to assist Lebanon in achieving security, stability, and prosperity.
The editorial emphasized that the Lebanese people deserve a government committed to rebuilding state institutions, combating corruption, and implementing reforms. The new government faces significant challenges, including reconstruction, implementing the ceasefire agreement, adhering to UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and executing internal and external reforms. The newspaper noted that these challenges make the government’s role both difficult and crucial for Lebanon, which is emerging from the crisis of war and requires support from Arab, Gulf, and international partners.
