Khartoum: The Khartoum State Refugee Commissioner’s Office launched its 26th relocation trip for South Sudanese refugees to camps in White Nile State on Thursday. The trip was overseen by the Relocation Program Coordinator, Alam Al-Huda Mohamed Ali Youssef, and Nasr Al-Din Al-Daw, with the participation of security officials from the office.
According to Sudan News Agency, the trip included 137 South Sudanese refugees from the Jabal Awliya – Dar Al-Salam Locality, representing 53 families. They were transported in three buses and six trucks (pickups) for their luggage and belongings, accompanied by an ambulance and a security patrol to ensure the safety of the journey.
The farewell ceremony was attended by several staff members from the Commissioner’s Office and the UNHCR, including representatives from the Protection and Registration sections, as well as security officials from the office. The office explained that the transfer of refugees to the camps was carried out in accordance with state decisions regarding the relocation of refugees from Khartoum State to the camps, as stipulated in the Sudanese Asylum Regulation Act of 2014. It emphasized that the transfers were conducted in an organized and humane manner, in coordination with the UNHCR and relevant security bodies, and with all necessary safety precautions in place.
