Khartoum: The Khartoum State Ministry of Health marked World Sight Day by conducting inspection tours of three major hospitals: Al-Walidain Eye Hospital, Makkah Eye Hospital, and Noor Al-Oyoun Military Hospital.
According to Sudan News Agency, the visits were spearheaded by Dr. Ahmed Al-Bashir, Director of the General Directorate of Curative Medicine, along with other senior officials. Dr. Al-Bashir emphasized the increasing collaboration among public, private, and military health sectors. He noted that Al-Walidain Hospital manages over 7,445 cases every month and, during the World Sight Day event, provided more than 2,000 consultations, 150 free surgeries, and distributed 2,000 eyeglasses.
Maj. Gen. Dr. Essam El-Din Naji, Director of Noor Al-Oyoun Military Hospital, expressed that the hospital had swiftly resumed its services following war-related damages, highlighting the critical need for eye care among citizens. Meanwhile, Dr. Karar Ali, Medical Director of Makkah Eye Hospital, pointed out that the hospital continues to be a leader in eye care, operating seven specialized clinics. Dr. Ali also announced plans to establish a new retinal surgery division and an engineering workshop to further enhance their services.
