Portsudan: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Lt. Gen. Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, renewed the government’s commitment to international humanitarian law and human rights principles, stressing its keenness to provide everything that could contribute to facilitating the influx of humanitarian aid to the targeted citizens.
According to Sudan News Agency, in his speech at the opening session of the second briefing forum on humanitarian response operations in Portsudan, Lt. Gen. Engineer Jabir pointed out that the government has opened seven border crossings, including the Adre crossing linking Sudan and Chad, which he said is used for military purposes in favor of the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
The TSC member added that the government has opened seven airports in a number of different Sudanese cities to facilitate the access of humanitarian aid and enable United Nations agencies and international humanitarian organizations to carry out their tasks.
Jabir expressed the government’s
appreciation for South Sudanese President Salva Kiir’s positions and his role in facilitating the transfer of humanitarian aid from Juba to Kadugli Airport, revealing airdrops of additional humanitarian aid in areas around Kadugli.
The TSC member also expressed his appreciation to the United Nations agencies and organizations that contributed to the relief of the people of eastern Al-Gezira who were subjected to serious violations due to the crimes of the outlaw RSF militia during the past days.
