Khartoum: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lt. Gen, Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, met on Monday in Khartoum with the UN Resident Coordinator in Sudan, Ms. Denise Brown. Jabir renewed the government’s commitment to providing all necessary assistance so that international organizations and UN agencies can perform their tasks, pointing to the efforts made by the government to deliver humanitarian aid to those affected by the war.
According to Sudan News Agency, the TSC Member underlined the need for the international community to play a greater role in protecting civilians and improving humanitarian conditions in light of the ongoing attacks by terrorist militias on humanitarian convoys and the siege of civilians in several cities in Darfur and Kordofan.
For her part, the UN Resident Coordinator in Sudan, Ms. Brown, highlighted the role of the program in helping countries eliminate poverty, reduce inequality, and build resilience in the face of crises, as well as achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Ms. Brown also affirmed that she will work alongside the Sudanese government to provide humanitarian aid to those in need, and that she will coordinate with partners to mobilize further support to address the ongoing crisis.
