Khartoum: Minister of Industry and Trade Mahasin Ali Yagoub affirmed that Sudan has recovered in flour production and reached surplus levels, with 18 mills now operating at a daily capacity of 10,000 tons.
According to Sudan News Agency, the minister noted at the Ministry of Information’s briefing forum, organized in Port Sudan, that strong cooperation from state Walis (governors) enabled the redistribution of industrial activity to the states until Khartoum fully recovers. She added that these state branches will remain to support long-term development.
The minister stated that the ministry continues restoring war-damaged industry, offering facilities and regulatory concessions to help factories return to production. She highlighted major destruction at sugar factories in Al-Gezira and Sennar but confirmed that work is underway to revive them, including the readiness of Al-Junaid’s irrigation intake bay pending connection to the national power grid.
The Minister expressed appreciation for the Armed Forces and supporting units for securing industrial recovery, calling for unified backing of the military in the War of Dignity.
