Khartoum: Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, held a meeting with Mr. Sheldon Yate, the representative of UNICEF – Sudan Office, to discuss joint coordination on health projects in Sudan, where UNICEF is the largest UN agency currently operating.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Ibrahim stated in press statements after the meeting that the discussions focused on strategies to reach hard-to-access areas, garner global support for malaria initiatives, and manage a grant associated with the World Bank. Emphasis was placed on facilitating malaria control efforts and fortifying the health system in the upcoming phase.
Dr. Ibrahim also mentioned that the meeting ensured ongoing projects, including a Japanese grant targeting newborn health, immunization projects, and malaria vaccination. He highlighted the success of the malaria vaccination campaign and pointed out the need for increased support in areas such as cholera vaccinations, underlining the importance of continued collaboration wit
h UNICEF.
