Omdurman: As part of his visit to Khartoum State, Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, alongside Wali of Khartoum State Ahmed Osman Hamza, visited the Omdurman Military Zone. He was received by Major General Al-Zafir Omar Abdel-Gafir, the Zone’s Commander. The visit aimed to commend the military on their victories over rebel forces and to engage with the Omdurman Military Zone Army in conjunction with the Jebel Awliya Military Command.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister of Health acknowledged the resilience of the armed forces, regular forces, and the state government during the Battle of Dignity. He emphasized the current focus on post-war reconstruction and addressing the impacts on health, services, and security. The Wali of Khartoum State highlighted the ongoing efforts to restore services disrupted during the conflict, noting the positive impact on citizens’ return and the containment of watery diarrhea. He assured that the situation is now stable due to the provision of essential resources and the expansion of isolation centers with support from the Federal Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.
The Commander of the Omdurman Military Zone expressed appreciation for the Federal Ministry of Health’s efforts during the conflict, emphasizing the preparedness to tackle future challenges, including security threats. He reiterated the joint commitment with the state government to stabilize life and facilitate the return of citizens.
The visit proceeded to the Medical Corps Command in Omdurman, where Lt. Gen. Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Al-Hassan Al-Atta, Commander of the Medical Corps, welcomed the delegation. He commended the joint efforts towards the current health situation and discussed partnerships to support the health sector in the state.
Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim reassured that health conditions are improving, with watery diarrhea under control, due to collaborative efforts from the state government, the World Health Organization, and national organizations. These efforts include supplying medical personnel and expanding isolation centers in affected areas.
During a joint meeting with the Federal Ministry of Health, Khartoum State, and the Medical Corps, several projects were agreed upon to enhance the health situation and further reduce the incidence of watery diarrhea, which is reportedly on the decline.
