Gezira: The Governor of Gezira Scheme, Ibrahim Mustafa, has announced ambitious plans to expand into global markets by boosting exports of soybeans, wheat, and peanuts.
According to Sudan News Agency, the summer season will see the cultivation of 300,000 acres, with a notable allocation of 100,000 acres specifically for soybeans. Mustafa highlighted that Sudan's soybean yield stands at 1.7 tons per acre, surpassing yields in numerous other countries and thereby enhancing the region's export potential.
Mustafa also disclosed increasing interest from investors in contractual farming partnerships. He emphasized ongoing modernization efforts, including the implementation of advanced irrigation management practices and satellite-based monitoring systems, to support these agricultural expansions.
