Khartoum: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the Janjaweed militia for its ongoing crimes against humanity, including massacres and ethnic cleansing, across various regions in Sudan. The ministry highlighted a recent massacre in the city of Al-Nuhud, located in West Kordofan State, where the militia targeted civilians based on ethnic grounds, resulting in approximately 300 deaths.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press statement on Saturday, detailing the brutal actions of the militia. The statement described how the Janjaweed documented their crimes, including desecrating the bodies of their victims, which they viewed as acts of victory and heroism. This behavior, the ministry emphasized, exceeds the brutality of the most notorious terrorist groups in history.
The ministry further criticized the international community for its perceived impunity, which it claims gives protection and encouragement to the militia and its regional supporters. These entities are accused of supplying the militia with resources to continue their violent campaign against civilians, disrupting daily life, and damaging Sudan’s infrastructure.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the UN Security Council and international actors to reconsider their stance of tolerance, which borders on indifference, regarding the militia, its regional sponsors, and external supporters. The ministry reiterated its call for decisive action to address the ongoing atrocities and prevent further human rights violations in Sudan.
