Khartoum: The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning has approved the Third National Voluntary Report on the Sustainable Development Goals in its final form. The report was extensively discussed Tuesday at the final intergovernmental meeting of the Higher Committee for the Preparation of the Report, chaired by the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Planning, Dr. Mohamed Bashar, with broad participation from undersecretaries, representatives of ministries, and director generals from all units and entities involved in preparing the report.
According to Sudan News Agency, it was agreed to incorporate the participants’ comments and submit the report to the United Nations by the specified date of June 16, in preparation for its review at the high-level meeting in New York next July.
Dr. Bashar stated that the report confirms Sudan’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals and aims to reflect the progress made in achieving them, the impact of the war on that, and the priorities for reconstruction and rehabilitation in the post-war period.
He stated that the report was prepared with the participation of all sectors of society through holding 11 workshops organized by the Sustainable Development Unit at the Ministry, and then a verification workshop was held to secure the data and information contained in the report to reach the current final stage.
