Khartoum: The Federal Ministry of Health is set to unveil a significant health initiative next week, introducing 80 dialysis machines funded through a Qatari grant aimed at benefiting kidney patients across Sudan. This initiative, facilitated by the Qatar Red Crescent Society, marks a critical step in addressing the shortage of dialysis services in the country.
According to Sudan News Agency, Federal Minister of Health Professor Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim emphasized the unprecedented scale of the Qatari support, highlighting its potential to substantially reduce the service gap for dialysis treatments nationwide. The announcement was made during a meeting held in the Minister’s office, attended by Dr. Salah Al-Daak, Secretary-General of the Qatar Red Crescent Society, and Dr. Nizar Hassan Mohamed Osman Zolfo, Director of the National Kidney Surgery Centre.
Professor Ibrahim described the Qatari grant as one of the most pivotal health projects currently underway. He elaborated that the 80 dialysis machines will be strategically distributed to all states within Sudan, ensuring widespread access to this essential medical service. Additionally, he underscored the necessity for ongoing collaboration between the Ministry, the National Kidney Surgery Centre, and the Qatar Red Crescent Society to guarantee the effective deployment and utilization of the equipment.
