Al-obeid: The General Commissioner of Humanitarian Aid (HAC), Salwa Adam Benia, chaired an expanded meeting on Sunday with local and international organizations at the North Kordofan State Government Secretariat Hall. The meeting included director-generals from the Ministries of Health, Education, Finance, the Higher Council of Culture and Media, and local administrators.
According to Sudan News Agency, the discussions focused on the urgent need for increased support in education, health, and water sectors, primarily due to challenges posed by displacement, disease outbreaks, and damage caused by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. Salwa Adam Benia emphasized the importance of Sudan’s transition from emergency response to recovery, urging for coordinated efforts to normalize life, provide essential services, and encourage voluntary returns to communities.
Benia called on national and international organizations, UN agencies, and partners to step up awareness campaigns, provide psychological support, and initiate productive projects for the affected populations. She highlighted the importance of transitioning from immediate aid to long-term recovery strategies.
The meeting also revealed that joint assessments have strengthened coordination, leading to improved interventions in secure localities. Representatives from various national and international organizations reaffirmed their commitment to supporting communities with essential needs such as food aid, shelter, rehabilitation, solar energy solutions, and psychological services. They underscored the necessity of collaborating with the State Commission to ensure a sustainable impact on affected communities.
