Khartoum: Minister of Energy, Engineer Al-Mu'tasim Ibrahim Ahmed, chaired a joint meeting Sunday bringing together the Governor of the Amina Mirghani, the Fuel Import Committee at the Ministry of Energy, the Undersecretary of the Ministry Engineer Ali Abdulrahman, and officials from the Economic Security sector.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting discussed the implications of the Gulf war and its impact on Sudan's fuel supply, in addition to reviewing procedures governing fuel import operations, coordination with both public and private importing companies, and mechanisms for securing financing and covering associated costs. The discussions also focused on measures aimed at reducing fuel prices and ensuring market availability.
The meeting further reviewed directives issued by the Council of Ministers regarding the regulation of fuel imports, particularly the need to assess the technical and financial capacity of importing companies, their storage facilities, and direct distribution service stations. It also stressed the importance of accurately determining the country's actual fuel needs, given that fuel is classified as a strategic commodity.
