Wad madani: Sudan Customs Police Forces have launched the electronic container-tracking system at the Wad Madani customs yard, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Information Technology, Gezira Customs, and the Risk Department. The launch began with the arrival of two containers from the Red Sea to the Wad Madani yard using the new system, as part of the gradual nationwide rollout following its official introduction at the Southern Port.
According to Sudan News Agency, the ceremony was attended by senior customs police officers, who affirmed that the pilot operation reflects the readiness of Customs Police Forces to expand modern electronic monitoring across all customs stations and crossings, enabling real-time tracking of container movement. Director-General of Customs Police Forces, Lt. Gen. Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, highlighted that adopting advanced technologies is a key institutional priority in line with international standards to facilitate trade while limiting smuggling. He praised the efforts of the IT Directorate and the Risk Department in linking customs yards to the new system.
Officials noted that the system will help reduce road-transport risks, ensure the safe arrival of goods, and enable rapid intervention when needed. The operational deployment of electronic tracking marks a major step forward in strengthening smart oversight, protecting the national economy, reducing clearance time and costs, and enhancing secure cargo movement between states.
