Khartoum: The Khartoum Locality subcommittee of the Higher Committee for Environmental Preparation for the Return of Citizens, chaired by Executive Director Abdel-Moneim Al-Bashir, conducted an inspection Monday of ongoing rehabilitation works at water and electricity facilities.
According to Sudan News Agency, the committee reviewed progress at Al-Mugran Water Station, currently producing 45,000 cubic meters daily, with efforts underway to double capacity to 90,000 cubic meters through the addition of pumps, transformers, and maintenance of sedimentation basins. Al-Shajara Water Station, with a 15,000-cubic-meter capacity, is being restored to full operation, addressing power supply issues for its pumps. The Burri Water Station, previously destroyed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Militia, is also undergoing complete rehabilitation.
On the electricity front, the committee inspected the fully rehabilitated Al-Mugran power conversion and distribution station, now loaded with power and expected to supply large areas of Khartoum Locality. The inspection also covered the electricity transmission line along Al-Ghaba Street, which will serve extensive parts of southern Khartoum.
