Khartoum: Australian investor Stephen Bunting expressed his intention to establish an advanced diagnostic-materials manufacturing plant in Sudan, positioning it as a launch point and distribution hub for the African continent. The announcement came during a meeting he held with Federal Minister of Health, Prof. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, in Port Sudan on Thursday.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting was attended by the Director of the General Directorate of International Health, Dr. Alaa Al-Tayib Madathir, who stated that discussions focused on expanding investment opportunities in Sudan’s health sector. Dr. Alaa emphasized the significance of this investment track and the necessity for strengthened cooperation between the Ministry and its partners, highlighting ongoing efforts to engage non-traditional private-sector actors.
Dr. Alaa further noted that the partnership had already begun through in-kind support provided to the Ministry, including containers and materials valued at more than USD 30 million. She concluded by affirming continued efforts to open communication channels and establish an effective mechanism with partners to ensure sustained support for the health sector.
