Khartoum: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Mahmoud Ali, has reiterated the African Union’s commitment to supporting Sudan in its efforts towards achieving peace, facilitating national dialogue, concluding the transitional period, and organizing free elections to ensure political stability and security in the country.
According to Sudan News Agency, this declaration was made in a congratulatory message from the Chairperson of the African Union Commission to Ambassador Omar Mohamed Ahmed Siddig upon his appointment as Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. In the message, Mahmoud Ali expressed confidence in Sudan’s leadership, particularly under the guidance of the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), and assured the minister of the African Union’s steadfast support.
The message highlighted the challenges facing Sudan and underscored the importance of Ambassador Omar’s role in navigating these obstacles. It emphasized the African Union’s dedication to assisting Sudan in organizing free elections and ensuring the nation’s political stability and security. The Chairperson concluded by extending his best wishes for the minister’s success in his new role.
